Web3 Engineers Recruitment for SMART VALOR


In July 2023, we were approached by SMART VALOR, a Swiss FinTech company working in blockchain technology and prominent in the cryptocurrency space.

The task was to find and select two Senior level developers, with a stack including AI and Web3 development languages and tools. 

Job Description:

Blockchain Web3 Engineer

  • A graduate degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cryptography, or related fields. 
  • Overall 4+ years of software development experience with 2+ years of blockchain development experience (FinTech/Web3/Blockchain/Crypto).
  • Experience in blockchain and other Web3 technologies, as a Web3 developer and/or as a backend service developer.
  • Knowledge of Ethereum, EVM-compatible chains, Layer 2 solutions, and related technologies.
  • Technical knowledge of the leading blockchain protocols, consensus mechanisms, and the latest innovations in the space.
  • Experience in building distributed systems.
  • Deep understanding of blockchain transactions and accounts.
  • Development, Testing, and Deployment of Smart contracts on multiple platforms.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles and best practices, including version control (e.g., Git), code review, and unit testing.
  • Familiarity with the digital asset/cryptocurrency industry and related data sources.
  • Interest in blockchain and other Web3 technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and meet project deadlines.
  • You’re a self-starter and a quick learner.
  • Fluent in English.



  • Build backend Web3 services that interact with blockchains.
  • Build scalable blockchain infrastructure.
  • Design, development, testing, and optimization of smart contracts on Ethereum and other mainstream blockchain platforms.
  • Integrate with different wallets (auth, transactions) and blockchains (on-chain data analysis).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cryptographic and blockchain-related issues.
  • Connect with the developer community and facilitate discussion with technical partners.

AI Engineer

  • A graduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or a similar quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with AI/ML algorithm R&D.
  • Design, build, and test machine learning pipelines from end-to-end.
  • Hands-on experience with AI modeling tools and software, like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Langchain, etc.
  • Having programming skills in languages such as Python (and relevant libraries such as pandas, NumPy) or R.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge and experience with data warehousing concepts and tools.
  • Strong experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a similar role involving data integration, transformation, and analysis with exposure to multi-disciplinary data (Engineering, Accounting, Compliance, Customer Support, Marketing etc.).
  • Ability to work comfortably in a git framework.
  • Be experienced working with a variety of databases but have deep knowledge of at least one.
  • Experience with coding language principles: logic, scripting, system configuration, scheduling and monitoring.
  • Knowledge and experience with AI/ML algorithm development and dataset generation.
  • Familiar with NLP, neural networks, deep learning or machine learning algorithms.
  • Familiar with large-scale model training.
  • Experience with Docker, Containerization, AWS services. Good to have experience with: Lambda, S3, EC2.
  • Experience with Looker or with alternative visualization solutions like Qlik, Tableau or PowerBI.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT solutions like Fivetran.
  • Solid understanding of AI and machine learning principles and practical experience in implementing AI models and algorithms.
  • Familiarity with the digital asset/cryptocurrency industry and related data sources.



  • Lead AI/ML algorithm R&D work-group.


In both cases, remote and hybrid operation was envisioned.


We scrutinized the project and job descriptions. We held video conferences with the client to clarify the details we were interested in.

Next, the IT recruiter made a preliminary selection of potential candidates with the required skills and a suitable location. After sending out the project description and job description to the candidates, the first feedback was received and interviews with the candidates were scheduled. 

As a result of the interviews, detailed profiles of relevant candidates were sent to the client. We then scheduled interviews with the client's company representatives and candidates.

A total of 3 stages of interviews were conducted with each candidate, including stakeholder interviews. As a result, job offers were made to the final candidates.


Out of 112 job postings sent, we attracted 22 qualified candidates, of which 6 reached the final selection stage and 2 joined the client's team and are successfully employed.
